Hi, guys-- I've been a part of the community for a couple months but have not posted here yet. Here is a recently completed image of mine. CC most welcome!
14 exposures, 8-30 seconds, f/9, ISO 100
Sony a6000, Sony FE 3.5-5.6
Well done and nice rendition of the light beams.
With your choice of the background the image gives off a nice feeling of encountering the car on a parking lot during night driving. The rocks in the background an the car itself being lit up implies that there's another car lighting up the scene with it's headlamps, thus the encounter story.
As for suggestions:
Do you perhaps have the lightpainting on the car body itself on a different exposure? If so, try, if the image can use a warmer tone on the light, trying to match the car's own headlamps and the light on the rocks in the background to the right. To me it's a bit to too cold and takes away from the story.
Also: any particular reason, the mirrors were left folded in?
Good catch on the mirrors! First person to notice on social media. To be honest, it was a complete oversight on my part until I began processing in post. I was in the boonies and a little too focused on keeping an eye out for coyotes!
I'm not sure what you mean by matching the temp. The headlights project a cool temp onto the ground, catching dust which had a warmer tone. the same light to show the body was also used in the background, the rocks are an orangey color.
Thanks for taking the time to CC, love the impression it gave you for the storyline!
Well, maybe you're right about the temp. Might just be me. Maybe I'm just too used to the warmer color of the old headlamps. I'm an 80ies kid after all...

My eye seem to constantly be drawn to the rock face instead of the 550, but other than that this is a beautiful layout.
