Over the last several years, I have been shooting high school soccer and lacrosse games. I have a vested interest with my son playing, but it's grown well beyond that with many parents appreciating my pictures of their boys too! So I receive lots of positive feedback, none unbiased.
LAX is made more difficult with helmets and cages, sticks and defenders getting in the way. I do alright with open field running; but, I'd like to improve my action shots and get more defensive players (keeping that half of the parents happy too).
We have our next season opening up in a few weeks. I'm looking for feedback from fellow photographers. Thanks in advance!
I like engaged action shots like the first and second images.
If it were me, on your next shoot:
1. Shoot lower to the ground. Maybe kneel or sit down. At least a good portion of the time.
2. Shoot at 200mm @ f2.8 as much as possible. Your third image was at f6.3. Wasn't sure if that just by accident. :)
I almost picture going for images similar to this:

.
.
But, of course, mix it up also.
Great feedback - I will incorporate your suggestions. Thanks!
