This might be a stupid question but I have my first print publication coming out (I'm a fashion photographer). My monitor is calibrated and photos look amazing when I print them out on my canon professional printer, but, I don't know how the color will turn out in the magazine, because I don't have access to how or where they will print. Is there anything that I can do to know how color will change ? or a setting in my computer?
If your monitor is calibrated, and you are using an accurate printer, assuming they are using a high quality printer, the photos should look the same. Most magazines use professional printers, so it is a relatively safe bet
Ok thank you, I was just worried, because I look at them from my phone, Ipad etc.. and of course the color doesnt match my monitor, which is the color I want for the final product in the magazine :(
usually you should deliver to them a set of prints so they can have an idea of how it should turn out, and they should do a test print, and have you give them the ok on it!!!
Your iPhone and iPad are way cooler than a calibrated monitor as well as presenting the images in sRGB and most likely not Adobe RGB 1998.
Only just joined the group, Melissa - and I see you have already been given a comprehensive set of answers - I hope the magazine did a good job of printing your photos - you might have to accept a slight variation from your own colors but still should have had an acceptable result.
Dropped by when I saw your note, to reassure of this - there's no such thing as a stupid question - you can have stupid answers, and stupid people who don't ask questions, but not "stupid questions".
