The Morning Fog

This is my first post in this group. I am posting a pic shot from my mobile. I would really love some feedback on it. :)

I would be interested to hear what you like about it.

For me there are elements I like but as a whole it doesn't really work.

The old looking building in the background combined with the soft black and white makes this feel like an old photo (which is good). But that old feeling is almost immediately broken by the modern bus stop/advert smack on the middle of the image. which conflicts wit the processing style.

If the pavement was clear you would have a man looking into the foggy distance - combined with the old feel that would give it an air of mystery. Unfortunately due to the bus stop you have a man waiting for a bus. No real mystery.

In conclusion, for me, the various elements of the image conflict instead of working together so the image does not work.

wow .. never thought it that way .. thank you dan .. it was just a mobile shot while i was waiting for the bus myself .. thank you so much for you comments .. will certainly help me grow.

I feel the opposite of Dan. The 'old feeling' has nothing to do with the architectural elements of the urban landscape, it's a timeless feeling that isn't restricted by the age of the objects in the image. I think this image evokes a distinct mood and the composition supports that mood. It's a solid shot.

thank you jim .. hadn't logged in to fstoppers lately .. i really don't know what it is about certain images working and certain images not .. from my side i don't put so much effort in focussing on the rules .. while one is still processing the rules in their head, they might miss what they really wanted to photograph .. this particular day .. i just had my mobile .. took it out and boom .. this is what i have .. thank you so much for the appreciation ..
