I caught this while playing with a new 50mm prime lens at my daughter's university graduation. She turned just as I was taking the photo, otherwise her hair would've been perfectly in focus. Instead, I have a slightly softer and IMHO infinitely more interesting photo. Anyone have any comments or suggestions on how I might improve on this?
Crop it maybe? Id bring it in to make her more the subject matter without losing the look of being in a crowd. Right now the line that all those backs make lead my eye away and to the left and then up to the lights and back down to her. Also the focus is set to his ear and misses her right eye. So Im led to think that maybe he was the subject and she turned into the pic accidentally. On a good note, the lighting is good. Her cheek has dimension.
I think the composition is fine. I wouldn't crop this but Chris is right about the focus. I like the photo but since the focus is on his ear and misses her eye, I think the image is a miss. It would've been a good photo if you'd hit her right eye.
