A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try my hand at street / editorial photography while at the Founder's Day Festival in Tryon, NC. I normally do landscapes and nature, stuff that has no people, but I'd like to "broaden my horizons" a little.
The band is "Overmountain - Traditional music of the Southern Appalachian Mountains." The Native Americans are members of "The Warriors of AniKituhwa," a Cherokee Warrior Dance group that educates communities on the traditional ways of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee (father and son pictured). I think what made me submit these particular images out of the 200 or so that I shot is to illustrate how the older generations are passing down these traditions.
Like I said, I'm not used to shooting people so I'd love your input. What could I have done to create a better image or tell a better story? CC is greatly appreciated!
