Streets of London at Night: Vehicles

I spent a couple of days in London last week and the sun set very early at around 4:30 pm in the evening. It made for long nights and short days, but I actually like shooting at night because I feel everything is more dramatic.

These are a few I took of the vehicles while walking around. The first two are hand held while the other two are using a compact tripod I carry with me when I go out shooting.

I have more to share as I go through them, but would be great to get some feedback on them and also open to recommendations on other fun location to shoot in London.

Excellent night shots. What do you recommend for camera settings?

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback!

For handheld shots it's a balance but I'm typically pretty wide open here for the handheld shots of around 2.8, iso 1600 - 3200 depending on lighting, and I try to keep my shutter at 125/sec or above to keep things sharp.

As my camera and lens do not have ibis I have to keep a higher shutter speed to compensate. But if yours does you can use a lower shutter as the stabilization will help a lot.

For the tripods shots I don't need to use a high iso or need to open up as much since the camera is stabilized. So I use a higher f-stop like 5.6 - 11, base iso, and then adjust my shutter. If your camera has ibis on the lens you may need to turn it off if you're using it on a tripod depending on what camera/lens you have.

Anyways try it out, night shots are a lot of fun!
