thank you Matthew ... im still an infant in this and would like to know what is the criteria for emphasizing specifics as oppose to have all in focus ... i did that with another photo and the suggestion was to blur the background ... my thought on this one was to crop it so that the 2 faces were on the 1/3rd's and to add slight more exposure on the faces and blur on the rest in order to peg the viewer on the faces for a moment before exploring the rest of the photo to figure out the message
Obviously everyone will have their own opinions on this, but I would never add blur in post to emphasize a subject. Shoot with a shallower lens/f-stop or find other ways (lighting and composition) to emphasize a subject. Our eyes never see selective blurring in real life and it jumps out immediately, especially at the edge on the bag where it suddenly goes from sharp to blurry.
If you want to use the blurring, I'd just make it more gradual in transition from focused to blurred. The eye contact and framing in this photo does a lot already to keep our attention on the subject.
I think the image is powerful enough to stand on its own without the added artificial blur.

New one following your advice Matthew
I like the photo without the blur added. I'd make sure to go back to the lighting you had originally though. The faces were a bit brighter.
tnx busy panelbeating it
You're doing great. No need to keep editing for my sake. Just providing some friendly feedback!
