Hey friends! I've recently started dabbling in swimwear photography. My goal is to basically blend my own personal style for outdoor portraiture with a completely new genre to me. I'm fairly happy with the results so far but I'd love your feedback!
I think it looks quite pretty overall, the landscape is lovely. However, unfortunately with her feet in the water it does this weird thing making her legs look like they end in stumps, which also makes her look shorter than she probably is. The dodging and burning on her torso could use some work, it has a bit of a harshness to it that could be very easily softened just a tiny bit. The stark contrast between the tops of her breasts and the dark orange of the rest of her chest is a bit jarring too. The pose is ok, but with her hand coming around and cupping her hip, it looks a little like a hand-from-nowhere. I would have probably had her leave that arm hanging down or maybe parked on her hip with the arm visible, and maybe softened the pose of her other arm so that there wasn't as much visible tension and the elbow wasn't pointing at the camera.
I would also like to see a little more light on her face, but that's a small nitpick. And since this is specifically for "fashion", a closer shot where the suit is emphasized more than the model would be good. As a glamour shot, it works more or less, but more attention to the dodging and burning and maybe a reduction in the hard orange color of her skin would be good. Not that she needs to be pale and washed out, but even in these beautiful sunset colors it screams "blotchy fake tan" to me. Hope this helps.
All super helpful suggestions! I'm super new to swimwear so I'm all ears to any suggestions. This is the first shot I've processed from the shoot so I'll definitely be keeping your suggestions open as I process the rest. :)
I've got another swimwear shoot coming up next week, I'll be putting your on-location suggestions to work with that one, hopefully i'll have some new shots that measure up!!
I agree with the feet not been seen. I would zoom a closer so there will be more focus on the fashion because the nice background is competing for attention. Over all nice pose, color and exposure.
