I think this is my first good macro shot that was taken out in the wild.
Still having really hard time with the narrow DOF. Not sure fi there is anything that can be done for that when taking photos of life subjects.

Very nice! About narrow DOF, this has been written many times but use some kind of flash and a small aperture. If you want the environment as well, you'll need two flashes.
I'm not an 'expert' but I think this is a lovely image .... could you explain how a flash would have improved it please? I prefer not to use flash , so I am very keen to know.
