A plumemoth ...

... wandering in my backyard. I took these pictures on the same day I took those of the wasp(s). Lots of activity in the yard then.

Cool! I don't think I've ever seen one of these, now I'll have to start looking for one.

They're quite common, but surprisingly good camouflaged. At first I thought it was a tiny stick ...

Have you ever seen a hornworm moth? That's what a hornworm caterpillar turns into. I've been searching my tomato plants hoping to find one, I haven't yet.

Just looked it up, and I have seen them, but didn't know the name, or realize they were what a tomato worm (at least that's what I've always called them) turns into. Never seen one when I had a camera close though.

I wasn't aware of it either at first. I looked it up when it flew out of my tomato bush a couple years ago. It was huge and was curious as to what it was. I took a picture of it with my phone as a moth...

Also, I have no idea why my profile pic wont update.

Interesting moth. You should consider resizing the photos due to them going out of focus after clicking on full size.

Also, rule of thumb in macro while taking pictures of insects is to capture the face, if possible.

Well done and keep it up. I'm enjoying seeing the different insects from different parts of the world.

You're right, I should have done that. The devil is in the details ;-)

They look amazing. Never seen them before. It seems that we can find a similar species here in the Alps: Stenoptilia pterodactyla

I think I have to keep my eyes open. ;)
