For the eyes !

This time I got them in focus. All eight of them ... Sadly the awkward angle caused me to cut off two legs ...

I like it! Still arachnophobic, but it's a good capture of the Araneus and the eyes are in focus. In Switzerland the Araneus diadematus is very common, but I've not seen one for many years...

Thanks !
In my garden they are quite plenty - at least a dozen (I live in Belgium, Antwerp region). They grow quite big too if they survive till September or October.
Too bad for the arachnophobia though. Arachnids make beautiful models ;-) .

Don't worry, I have an agreement with them. They keep their distance or I'll move them. At least at home. I don't know why I have the phobia. I know that I did not have it as a child. I also know they are very useful and now danger in Europe. It's weird I know....

It does not mean, that I don't try to take pictures of them. I actually like jumping spiders. The look cute. I think it's their eyes. ;)

Great shot! looks a lot like the Garden Orb Weavers we have here in the midwestern United States. As far as the cut off legs I would rotate and crop, it real tight to make it look more intentional. something like this.

ah, didn't think of that. I like it !
It was cropped already, to make the composition look a bit more interesting, but I like this aggressive crop more.

Edit: I did some looking up, it appears it's the same animal. In dutch we call it 'kruisspin' which translates as 'cross spider', but it is apparently also known as European garden spider and Orb weaver. There you have it ;-)
