Hornet Mimic Hoverfly (Volucella zonaria)

I have never seen a Hoverfly like the Hornet Mimic Hoverfly (Volucella zonaria) in Switzerland- This thing is huge. It's around an inch. I don't think you have that species overseas.

The last two pictures are massive crops. Just to display the weird head and some of the eyes. It's almost the highest magnification I can get right now. ;)

They could not be any better. I really love the third one down.
Great work.

Thank you very much. #3 is also my favorite. I'm only regret that I cut of the back.#4 is a tighter crop on #3 just because of the face.

Nice ones! great detail on the last two, especially since you say they're massive crops. The three simple eyes show up well.

Thank you very much. It's only possible, because it's a huge fly and it fills the most part of the sensor. So I could crop and still keeping details.
