ideas about insect photos

Like many photographers I'm thinking about macro lately, and shooting some insects. The thought came to me that what I really want to do now is capture not just the insect, but the light and color around him. No blinding insight here, it's just what came to me, and it's giving me ideas.

I'm going to be doing more insects, and blogging about it. Someone just getting into macro might find some of my posts useful or at least interesting. Well, we all have to find something do do while waiting for the vaccine...

Thank you very much for what you put on the net.

What gear are you using?

Nikon Z6 and Rokinon 100mm manual focus macro lens. This lens is inexpensive and has very good image quality; it's heavy though.

Nice!

Hi Jim...like you I've taken up macro..I've just reading your stuff on your website and I do all the exact same things ๐Ÿ˜really like your images by the way ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Just dont make the same mistakes. ๐Ÿคฃ

I just got a cheap LED ring flash and will see if I can add just a bit of fill, to get my apertures smaller, without it looking obvious.
