Skin retouching

Hi everyone,
I'm working with a model that has very discoloration skin due to operations and medical issues, there are scars and the multitude of various colours there and then there is the extreme weight lost and the issues that causes.
What I would like to do is a slight but not heavy skin retouching on her body.
Any recommendations.
Currently I'm doing glaussian blur with noise to bring texture back and that is fine, but maybe there is a better way.
The end product is textured to create my signature style.

I await your replies.

Thanks

Jon

I would consider frequency separation to try and deal with some of the textural issues. You can also use a curves layer to retouch skin colours - there's a Dani Diamond tutorial on youtube about removing eyebags that can be applied to deal with other patches of skin colour that need to be adjusted.

I'll have a look at the video and see if its works any better the FS.

I would definitely try frequency separation. There are a ton of videos on youtube, if you are not familiar with the procedure. There is one done by Aaron Nace at Phlearn that is good and he even provides a link to download a photoshop action to create the layers. Saves a few minutes and is pretty good.

Yes, I've watched that one several times and it work s for the most part very well.
