Jordan McChesney's picture

X marks the spot.

So, I just got a Nikon D850, and I thought I would take it for a spin at a very popular photography spot in Tokyo.

Sorry, it's rather late, so no long winded story or advice in this one. I'm just curious to see what various other pairs of eyes think. It was also my first attempt at a sky swap, so if it's garbage, I'd appreciate any advice y'all may have.

Info: (it's a little complicated)
Nikon D850
ISO 100
F/11
24mm (for the most part)
Shutter speed: a series of 30 second images stitched together for the light streaks, a separate exposure for the city (maybe around 20 seconds) and a third exposure for the sky (around a minute and a half)

in my opinion its a really cool shot! love the foreground :D nicely done on composition :) overall a nice shot!

Thanks! I'm actually surprised I've never seen this composition/location on Fstoppers. It's shared on Japanese instagram accounts every few weeks, so I had been avoiding it until now, haha.

hehe nice :) I have never seen it :) but I'm new to fstoppers so xD many amazing pictures here :)

Welcome!

Well, I think I’m lucky that this is a mostly American/European based website. I more or less have the monopoly on Japanese images, haha.

haha yeah you do.. nice shot Jordan...by the way im supper jealous that you beat me to the camera upgrade GRRRRR...

Well, then allow me to make you more jealous, haha. I got super lucky with the timing of a sale, so I got it for just $2600 (260,000¥). It normally goes for $4000 (400,000¥) in Japan

don't make me fly over there lol.. you are supper lucky, im glad to hear you finally got it i will be waiting for the price drop with the new lineup coming this year or next unless i find a great deal

Question for guys and gals.
The more I look at this image, the more I feel the water where the intersecting boats feels “off”. The lights are reflecting off the water, which is fine, but I feel like it looks “off” where they are intersecting, near the bottom line of the boat moving right to left.
What you y’all think? Am I overthinking it, or should I go back and patch it up? (I often second guess my images after posting, haha)
