The Storm Rolls In

This is a storm rolling over Calgary, AB on June 13th 2020. It has now been rated as the 4th costliest natural disaster in Alberta's history at over $1.4 Billion in damages from hail and flooding in the Northeast area of the city. We chased this storm from about an hour's drive south of the city near Blackie to about an hour and a half drive north and east of the city. Near the small town of Rumsey. As destructive as it is, boy, what a photogenic storm it was! Shot on a Canon 60D with a Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 and Photorepublik ND8 filter at 2.5 secs for most of the shots. The last 3 shots are my favourites.

Nice shot

Thank you

Amazing shots. Also I'm really impressed how you've held off over-processing them. All too often, I see pictures of great weather formations, but they look almost like CGI. Yours have a really natural look.

Thank you Adam. I like to try to keep it natural. My Sigma 10-20mm with an ND8 filter seems to produce some absolutely amazing colours. I love it!

Looks like a place Clark Kent would grow up.

I particularly like the one with the abandoned car!
