when i need that kind of light, i just use a big octabox (170-190 cm) and place in with both diffusers very close to the model.
you get a very soft light that surrounds her, and very sort shadows.
if you place it a but higher than the model and point it downwards, you'll get a bit of a shadow under the jaw, and your shadows will fall on the floor and not on the wall.
hope that helps.
I use elinchrom, but it just depends on your budget and liking.
what you can also do, is place a V shaped reflector in front of your model, and point the flash to it, so it will reflect it to the model.
that way you get a very big light source, at a fraction of the cost.
it's no octabox, but it works
