Sam Pags's picture

Hello Automotive World!

Hello!

I'm new to Fstoppers and thought it would be appropriate to make my first post in the Automotive Photography forums.

My name is Sam Pags and I am 22 (almost 23) years old and live in San Antonio, Texas. I live with my boyfriend ad business partner, Andrew, who is also a photographer and vehicle enthusiast. Together, we have four cars; 1984 Datsun 300zx, 1989 Porsche 944, 2005 Mini Cooper S and 2013 Chevy Sonic.

Our passion for vehicles and photography quickly merged together and is quickly evolving as we continue to practice our skills. I am excited to be a group member with fellow automotive photographers and vehicle enthusiasts.

Here is a 2015 Toyota Tundra that we recently shot in San Antonio. Please leave any comments or constructive criticism below! We are all here to learn. ☻☺

Hello,

I thought I would just say that I think it's really neat that you own both a 300zx and a 944. A good friend of mine has an 89 944 S2, that I have shot before. I actually have two pictures of it on my page.

Now to the picture above,

Are you using light painting or strobes?

Hi Stephen! Thanks for the car complements. It's an expensive hobby, lol!

As for the image: I am light painting with strobes. This is several exposures, composed with Photoshop.

Welcome to the group Sam!

Nice to see your work on here. I really like the above image of the Tundra. Lighting with strobes and merging is a tough method to master, but you are doing great so far!

After reading your comments on other posts here, I thought I should give some feedback on your image.

The reflection on the windshield is very distracting, the lighting is uneven, there are some odd glares coming from the left side of the bumper and headlight area, there is a white line at the bottom of the photo that could/should be removed. Also, the background lighting could be evened out some, top left and right are drastically different.

Thank you for your welcome and feedback, Dylon!

It's great to get a fresh pair of eyes on this image. I see exactly what you are talking about and agree that it needs to be cleaned up. (Or better planned out, lighting wise.)

I have more projects coming up and will be sharing them on your forum! I love criticism from other artists with the same passion.
