Since I became part of Fstoppers, I've had the opportunity to receive feedback from other photographers who have been honest in their opinions about my work. This has given me the ability to believe in my potential when I take pictures of a friend or a customer, because I know one of my peers has already made me aware about the areas where I need to improve. It is better to be criticized here than to be criticized by a customer because of a lack in quality of my work. God bless you all.
Excellent work all around.
Thank you, Mr. Fisher. Your feedback is valuable.
its beautiful I am curious about your lighting though I love it.
Miss Thuy Vu, thank you for taking time to review my post. My lighting was pretty basic. I have a SB-700 speedlight. But, I am using a foam cooler box with white paper in front to soften the light.
I know that money is always an issue doing this as a hobby. Your photos look great. But, If you don't have it already, using reflectors or even a whiteboard to bounce flash is great too.
Thank you for your kind words. I have used a white board for some of my pictures indoors. Coming from an environmental science background, I always try to recycle what´s around my house. I told my wife, ¨just let me buy a computer, flash and camera. I´ll do the rest.¨
This looks really lovely, I like how you cropped and retouched it. The composition and lighting are good.
The only thing I would change is to be more aware of subjects' hands when you're shooting. The hand in her hair looks kind of reminiscent of a lobster claw - it would maybe look better vertical, with slightly splayed fingers like she's running it through her hair, or just placed on her knee. The hand on her leg is turned at an awkward angle pointing inward with a finger pointing out which looks odd.
Hands are really hard to deal with almost all of the time. Unless the subject really knows what they're doing, it's often best to minimize their impact on a photo. (This is coming from someone whose early work was FULL of terrible hands! :) )
Hope this helps :)
Thanks, Sennia. Your words have great value to me. Your work is amazing and shows how professional you have become over the years. You are totally right about the hands. There are still so many things that I am not aware of during a shoot. Your comment really helps me remember the important aspects of a photograph that I need to pay more attention to.
