I really like children's portraits that have a shallow depth of field. However, I am trying to convince myself not to get an 85mm lens. I only have a 50mm one and want to get the best out of it.
You can get a look similar to the 85mm, using a 50mm on a APSC camera, although you'll get a little less deep of field, but I don't think that'll be a problem, since you're are fixing that in post. Can't comment on color since the monitor I'm using rn isn't calibrated.
What if you tried something like a Brenizer effect? Get the cute shot closer up with the 60 at, what 1.8?, and then snap a few more to the sides and around her?

Yeah, until my photography pays for the new gear, I will have to fix this kind of things in post.
