Here is a star trail I shot over the course of 1 hour, using 149 25" exposures. The moon was very bright and the trees in the foreground were lit by my friend's flash and our phones unintentionally.

I held a lighting workshop recently. Sterling was the model. I rarely shoot silhouettes but I wanted to incorporate that arch into a shot. Backlighting became an obvious choice.

If you had a timer / intervalometer, would you have opted for a single 1hr exposure instead of multiple shots?
