Snow day

We finally had our first snow of the year and, of course, had to go outside for snowman building and a good snowball fight. As we were playing around outside, I was able to catch a shot of my daughter (she didn't know until it was too late... she doesn't like to be in front of the camera, and her face usually shows it) as she was watching the dog slide through the snow.

I've never attempted any kind of portrait / model / fashion photography, and figured this is a good learning experience.

If you don't mind, please critique and let me know what you would do to make this image better.

Overall nice exposure. I like the focus on the face and the color of the jacket. A couple things I I would alter if it were me would be to add just a touch of red as the background almost has a blue hue to it.

Also, there's almost too much going on in the background, which takes the attention away from your subject. I would probably have used a larger aperture or blurred the tree line in post just a little bit to bring the attention back to the subject.

Thank you so much for the input, Nathan! I'm going to take your suggestions: add a little red, and blur the background to calm it down. I'll get to work on this... Thanks again!

Cool. You should repost when you're done. It'd be interesting to see a Before and After
