How I turned a gym-goer into Robin Hood!

I recently had the chance to do another epic cosplay shoot. Sometimes I do composites shot in a studio setting and sometimes I get to shoot on location. That was the case this time.

I was contacted by a gym-goer and asked if I would be up for a collaboration. As it happened I needed a model for a lighting workshop I was doing, so as a thank you I said I'd arrange a proper photo shoot with him.

As a fitness and physique photographer, I often shoot in gyms, so I asked him if he knew of any other location we could shoot at. A warehouse, a garage etc. so he said "Well, my neighbor has a castle." WHAT!?

It's trues, his neighbor lives in an actual11th century castle and gave us permission to shoot there. That then gave me the idea to do a themed shoot. As it was medieval, I thought of a warrior type shoot.

So, we hired a costume and someone said he looked like Robin Hood, so I got a hood and hired a bow and arrow.

We shot at the castle and also moved on to a local woods. As usual, I filmed the shoot for my YouTube channel, which you can see here:

Before and during the shoot I directed him to exude some personality and character, to become Robin Hood, as it were.

I shot with both off camera flash and ambient light.

After the shoot I worked on the edit to give the shots a bit of a movie look. The client was very happy with the shots and so am I and I look forward to my next project!
