Shaving box

A couple of months ago my mother gave me my grandfather's old shaving box. She asked me to take a few pictures of it. After thinking the shots out I decided to create a selfportrait. I setup the lights and tried different variations, modifiers, color filters and lenses.

In the box I found a Gillette razor, Gillette razor blades, De Vergulde Hand shaving cream, a shaving brush and an alum stone.

The first shot took a while to get right, but I'm happy with the end result. All the lights in the shot are flashlights. Two Bowens heads, one with a gridded beauty dish the other with an umbrella, and a speedlite with a Westcott Rapid Box.

In the right corner there is a picture of my grandfather.

Like the cool to warm tone gradation from arm to face. The scowl on the face looks natural. Including the portrait as a tribute and not having any objects from the current times adds to the story. Great job.

Very cool
