Hi :) I'm new to this group and I just wondered if anyone would be willing to give me some constructive criticism and advice or just generally give their thoughts on these portraits.
They're natural light shot with a Nikon 50mm f1.8.
Thanks :)
Since portraits like these are all about the eyes, you really have to be careful. With the thin focus plane, and maybe the eye-makeup, it looks as if the model's right eye is lazy. Well done, exposure wise, not to lose the texture in her black hair.
I like it and I like the second photo better than the first. I think I would have moved her a little to the right in the photo. I'm not saying it has to be a rule of thirds thing, but a little off center I think would help it some. If I was her I would be happy with the photo.

The focus is a good point actually, I hadn't really noticed it but now I look at it the rear eye definitely is a bit distracting. Thanks :)

Thankyou for the advice. So far I've struggled to really incorporate compositional elements into my portrait work so thanks for the advice :)
