Self Portrait And First Time Using 3 Light Setup

This is the first time I've used the 3 light setup and seeing I was on my own I had to do the self portrait with all the setting up, adjusting of lights then trying to pose in the just the right position ALL by myself LOL

I was trying to go for a Crocodile Dundee feel as Im an Aussie :) I also took another one but I put it in the Headshot Photography Group (IF you are interested to see how that came out) :)

I had the main light source was a Godox TT685N speedlight in a octabox angled down at 45degrees, the 2nd light is another Godo TT685N speedlight in a small soft box angled up to my left just to fill in some of the shadows that was cast by the brim of the hat and to put a bit of a catchment of light into my eyes. The 3rd light was a Yongnuo YN560III speedlight angled up from behind me onto the backdrop (Which are just my grey roller blinds)

Pretty good shot. Great lighting. Crikey, you got some big guns there mate ;) ;)

Glad you like the photo mate :) The arms are a result of MANY years in the warehousing trade LOL

Just saw your photos, I can only hope to get to your standards one day mate. You do GREAT portraits :)

Than you so much for your kind words, but this is YOUR stage here. You have some fantastic landscapes in your portfolio. Really great work! Hoping to visit Australia soon! Love the Aussie attitude ;)

Thank YOU for YOUR kind words mate :) When you come down to Oz let me know and I can guide you to the best places where you are visiting. To get the REAL Aussie attitude you have to go out of the big cities but you will feel welcomed thats for sure mate :)

Awesome shot. Wish there was a hardlight to camera left, slightly behind the arm, giving definition to your tattooed gun.

Well composed and the background halo is a nice touch. The model is not bad either

Appreciate your comment Anand. I feel the same as what you said about another light to camera left but I only had the 3 lights :( I totally understand what you are saying having the left arm lite up with a 4th light to show my tattoo off a bit more.

I will take that as a compliment about the model as that is me LOL

Once again thank you for your comment and thoughts, I truly do appreciate them :)

All right. Love the darkness. Important to have the catch lights. I use PCBs and virtually the same modifiers. Have been shooting self portraits for years. Always a chore to find the focus. Love the bear and the ink. I would be honored to have you in my studio, just as you are.

BTW, the lighting here is clamshell. Two strips.

Impressive effort. I can't find the third light you mention. The chief problem is one I had difficulty learning is striking a balance between foreground and background brightness. The background light should have been broader with less intensity. That third light would have done well to come in at a low power from an angel 180* opposite the key light just enough to catch a highlight off your right side and those massive "guns". Love the Aussie spirit.
