Cassie

I posted another one my shots from a shoot with Cassie and yet again the F-Stoppers community doesn't disappoint with senseless low scoring and zero comments, negative feedback without reason. It boggles my mind why with so many examples the F-Stoppers admins are ignoring this issue. Anyways, comments are appreciated.

The image is fine, I don't think it's amazing, but it's fine. That said, there are two major things that stand out as problems. One is her pose, with one finger on the side of her face and the angle of her neck with her shoulders hunched. The other is the obvious, distracting difference in color between her face (very magenta, and blotchy) and her shoulders (very orange). It's probably because of makeup and/or tanning, but it doesn't look good. Additionally, her arm is several shades lighter than her shoulders which makes it stand out even more and that isn't necessarily a good thing. If you watch any of the Critique the Community videos you'll understand more about the rating system. With some corrections in post production, I would rate this image a 3 which means solid and fine to put in your portfolio.

It is really not possible nor a good idea to ask other photographers about your work. You should shoot a few hundred photos over months/years and then select the best which say the same thing over and over. If you go to an art/photo gallery that is what you will see. Many prints of the same basic concept in the same format and the same material/color/B&W. These days, everyone with a camera or a smart phone thinks they are a photographer worthy of publication just like every father or mother thinks their baby
is beautiful...

A suggestion to you Przemek - rather than impose on your subject how you see them (in this case Cassie) let them be themselves and capture something about them. It will help you in making sure the pose is not so fixed and stilted. I would also suggest, with the greatest of respects, use a professional makeup artist
