She was working behind the checkout counter at the store. I asked her if she would be interested in doing a photo shoot and gave her my card. She said, sure. A week later we were fighting wind and took a bunch of shots. At first she was a little tense and a bit shy, but it wasn't long before she was "rocking it" as it were. Though there are shots from the session that are better from a technical standpoint, I particularly like this one for the personality and attitude.
Moral of the story? Don't be afraid to approach complete strangers for a photo shoot. Good models can be hard to find. Non "models" can be some of the best models. Plus it really helps you develop your direction chops.
