Self-portraits are not as easy as I thought...

Yesterday, I was asked for an editorial portrait of myself to be featured in a publication, so I took the challenge on to take it myself, thought it might be an interesting story. After years of shooting, we get accustomed to getting a subject to come to life, but it’s so much harder on the other end, staring down the barrel with no person on the other end and to generate the emotion. What do you guys think? How do you do it?

I recently went through the same thing, and I had to imagine someone I liked and enjoyed being with to engage that imaginary friend in conversation. It is hard.
