Hi everyone,
I don't usually shoot portraits, but I've been trying to do more recently. Yesterday, I took this incredibly beautiful model (my wife) out to a really cool, graffiti filled part of town. Neither of us had ever been there, but we had a blast shooting. I had her wear excessive makeup, and the black outfit for style and contrast. In this particular shot, I was focusing on getting the eyeball of the fish in the art between her arm and at the same level as her eyes. Did it work? What would you have done differently?
I'm just trying to improve, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. To date, I believe this is the best portrait I've taken.
Thanks for your help!
Derek
Not bad. I like how you put thought into it.
Just a few comments:
-- forget about the fish. Hell, I didn't even know it was a fish. :) Had the fish eyeball been more prominent, it would have been distracting.
-- her expression looks like she's irritated, "Grrrrr, babe, take the damn shot already. We're going to be late for the show." I would have had her relax more; or smile more, kinda like how she is on the other photos in your IG page.
-- too bad the shorts got clipped at the bottom. Also, had more of her legs been visible, it would have balanced the negative space at the top of the frame.
Lol, thank you for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind. I love your description of her expression.
