Good afternoon fellow photographers. My name is Emmanuel and I am a portrait photographer based in Los Angeles, CA. I have about 4 years of photography experience and I specialize in portrait studio photography.
Most of my drive stems from my passion for film; I hope to become a celebrity portrait photographer in the distant future and I am very patient with the journey. I hope to meet other ambitious, like-minded individuals who share similar interests. So far I see a lot of talent on here. I'm almost intimidated to be quite honest (this community seems to be in an entirely different league than what I'm accustomed to). I look forward to being a part of this community. I like to stay firmly committed with my choices. I feel I will increase my chances of achieving my goal if I establish the mindset that it will take some time for it to happen. :)
Ok, I just hope the distant future is not too far away.
I had a well thought out plan but I had to toss it away when reality hit it.
Success and failure in this business is very unpredictable and fickle, I can trace back 18 years of work to meeting one person. In the editorial and celebrity world it is even more "who you know".
I hope that you don't spend too much time on sites like fstoppers or "following" sites full of photographers and concentrate on networking with the people who will/may hire you.
Or as Mike Tyson said "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face."
Very insightful words. Thank you, Mike. The ability to network in and of itself seems like a skillset that can be cultivated. Establishing the right relationships with the right people is definitely a key to the whole process.
The lighting is definitely on point and very moody. Love the consistency.
