Using Toys in Compositions

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with shooting toys and compositing them into photos to look life sized. For example I am working on eventually making a jurrasic park themed photo. I plan on having myself in the forground, and then the dinosaur toy in the background. I have had a little play with the idea in photoshop but I just think it looks very toy like. If I can eventually get the look I want I have lots of other ideas involving toys but I want to see if I can get it looking right first.

I'm in the same boat, been experimenting around but need to go further to stop the toy looking unrealistic...
In this case I used a fairly realistic looking figurine but I think it still looks out of place...

The Dinosaur shot looks great. The horse pic looks good too. My one criticism would be the horse's mouth. Something looks out of place? Maybe if the horse wasn't so dark? Or maybe add an evil red glowing eye in post?

I have been doing something different, but not much. I make the toy look like it is interacting at its own scale. I put my pic out the window on his screen to make it look like he's interacting with an oversized natural environment.

I tend to composite them with each other to create a sense of action
