Kodak Tri-X vs T-Max

I've been shooting mostly 35mm Tri-X lately in order to get a feel for the film (the kids & the dog). Tri-X tends to be much grainer and loses detail in the brighter areas. I shoot with T-Max 400 on my medium format camera and usually love the results—rich detail, and very contrasty (the Buddha). I may switch over to T-Max for 35mm as well once I get through the batch of Tri-X in my fridge. What are your favorite B&W film stocks and why do you prefer them?

Just started shooting with the Tri-X 400 based on a image search via Reddit. I'm like the details and images of this film and hope I can achieve many of the same results seen on reddit.
