Preparing for Winter

While on a hike looking for the all elusive black bear to photograph, I came across a few forest grouse rummaging through the grass, feasting on whatever they could find. I decided to stay a bit and study the birds. It was almost like they knew I was there photographing them, several would come within a few feet of my lens only to stop and pose for a photo. While I never got close enough to get a good photo of any of the bears that we saw that day, I wont forget the encounter I had with these small birds.
