Southern White Rhino - Looking to Improve

Recently took this image on an open-air safari at The Wilds in Cumberland, Ohio. The Wilds is the largest wildlife conservation center in North America and is often used for breeding purposes and studying natural behavior.

The mindset I had while snapping this image was to make it as natural as possible for the viewer while striking a sense of aw at witnessing these animals in their "natural habitat." Southern white rhinos inhabit the savannas of southern Africa, often in small groups. These groups consist of females and juveniles.

Looking primarily for general feedback or critiques on how I can improve on this shot.

This shot is solid !! Maybe more detail in the sky would make it more interesting..

Thank you! I definitely agree that I need to bring out the couple of clouds that are in the sky. Going to be looking into ways to do so. I struggled at doing that earlier

by bringing the highlight in LR you can get more details. Otherwise you can replace the sky ;)

Thanks! I appreciate the tip!

you could make it straight too and work the shadow a little bit

I am in two minds as to whether it should have a shallower DoF to really blur the background or a higher f stop to give details to the other rhinos behind, adding a point of interest behind the main subject. I am currently reading the photographers mind by Michael Freeman) which is providing a lot of creative insight, may be worth a look.

Sometimes, I find having the horizon cut though the subject a bit jarring. It doesn't feel too bad in this shot, maybe because of the other rhinos in the back, but perhaps you could have dropped even lower to get the horizon out of the way. All in all though this is a great shot and well composed!
