Eurasian bullfinch

Eurasian bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula).
This is a clear sign that winter is coming here in Poland.

I often get comments to say crop to your subject but I think this works with the wider inclusion of the subjects habitat. I have only seen one bullfinch locally and they are quite impressive next to other more common varieties.

I get comments saying I cropped too much to get close up. Like the shot . It portrays the bird's natural habitat shows that it is wildlife.

Mike Young, William Hunter, thank you Gentlemen.
Correct. I understand people like close-up photos of animals because they show details not seen usually and they are visually pleasing. And it's good for guidebooks on species to help recognize them.
But: it's hard to get close to them in the first place. ;)
And a little bit of habitat I find is important. For example: they were eating goldenrod while there was a bush full of berries next to them. I would not suspect that behaviour.

What a complete package. The bird, the bokeh, and a stunning contrast in landscape to subject. A beautiful image.

Cropping has its merits, but only as a means to whatever my goal is in presentation. :)

Thank you, Cathleen.
