I'm not an Ornithologist. I did get to meet Maurice Braun, the original caretaker at Hawk Mountain near Hamburg, Pennsylvania when I was a teenager many years ago. He autographed my paperback copy of his autobiography, "Hawks Aloft."
Lately, we've noticed more hawks circling overhead our development, which adjoins Central Perkiomen Park in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. I expect they are drawn along the Perkiomen Creek, which flows through that park and Ebensburg State Park.
I took the first picture yesterday, but I probably could have taken it most any year since we've been here.
The second picture was taken today while I was walking Harry the Rescue Dog. This is the first time in 30 years that I have seen a hawk sitting. There was one in January that tried to fly through our deer net and got caught.
Is something going on with the birds? Where's Tippi Hedron? Is this too many really old references?
