I found this little golden orb spider in the garden. This was taken with the morning sun filtering onto the web. Could I have some advise on what to do to improve the photo of what I feel is quite sound subject matter. Either in post processing or composition. The web is situated in a place where access is limited to about 3 mts/ 10ft away so I am using a 300mm zoom lens. I will try some shots in the morning so all help will be appreciated.
.
Not sure why this happened but the photo is in a portrait not landscape with the spider at the top
Might have to do with the aspect ratio of the image, the software believes it is a landscape (or something). When I click on it, and "view image" it loads up correctly.
Here are my thoughts on an edit. Lighted up the contrast and introduced haze; brought back the highlights from clipping. A little Moire reduction. I included what I touched in Camera Raw for sliders.
Image 1, My thoughts
Image 2, a Side by Side
Image 3, Camera Raw Settings
Image 4, A pass thru Luminar (very slight glow added, and LUT). Optional of course. I like both versions.
Again just my thoughts, nothing more.
[Edit: Just a note... I work by bringing the exposure down, then bring highlights and shadows up (in this case pegged but not always), then bring exposure back up to just below highlights clip. It's a little different way of editing.]
Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate you taking the time and I like what you have done. I have a lot of time to work on photos as my gear is still at the doctors having the fungus removed. I am using my old 400d kit at present and its amazing how much of a difference between the two. Once again thanks.
Happy to do it... and I hope you gear has a speedy recovery. :)
