That's great to see a youngin' doing well! I hope that you're able to get out and monitor this nest on a regular basis, so that you will be able to photograph the young guy, as well as the adults, at various stages throughout the fledging process.

We have a group of 9 people that share where these owls are nesting.
Right now, I think we have 8 owl nests that we watch.
Two barred, five great horned owl, and a screech owl nest. (the screech owl may just be an individual and not a nest)
On one of the great horned owl nests, one of the owlets had died. It was during a flood, and no one was able to see how it passed. We think it was 3 to 4 weeks old and fell from the nest into the flood water.
As a photographer, it's a shame, that nest was the easiest to access, and had a lot of promise for some great shots. There is still one owlet left, but it would have been fun to watch them interacting.
