I actually set on the ground to get eye level with dillo. I didn't even think about getting to eye level with the Purple Galllinule since alligators are right at the waters edge. LOL

No risk, no reward! Get on your belly laying head first next to alligator infested shore!

Joking, joking! heh... Great photos, love the second one. :)

Thanks Joe, I didn't see the dragonfly until I was doing post production. I was focused on a bird in a nearby tree waiting for it to fly so I could get action shot. Finally I took my sun hat off and started waving it but bird didn't move. About 4ft away from me I heard a big splash and I had startled an alligator laying at the waters edge. Kept my left eye on the viewfinder and my right eye on the waters edge. LOL

That's seriously crazy...

Really impressive array of animals you have here, that's for sure. Love little surprises found in post. I took a snap of a snake on a log, but in post there were two faces looking right at me when i was only expecting the one.

I finally got my first giant blue heron last week, and it happened to be snapping up a immature painted turtle.

Cool! They will eat anything. I saw one eat a snake in a field. Brazos Bend State Park in Texas has an amazing array of wildlife.

Great series of images!

Thanks for the tip about Brazos Bend SP. I hope to road-trip to Texas within the next two years ..... this place will be on my list of Texas destinations.
