A few weeks ago I commented on another member's bird pictures and suggested that he could improve them by shooting them at eye-level rather than from below. This can often be difficult with birds, as they're often soaring above us or perched high in trees.
Fortunately, there are quite a few species of birds which come down to more reasonable altitudes where it's a lot easier to capture them at eye-level. Some of them -- like hummingbirds -- are very photogenic.
Here are a few hummingbird images I made last weekend. I'm fortunate to live in an area where they seem to be around for most of the year.
At the time I made these images, I was kneeling on the ground with my camera and lens mounted on a tripod with a gimbal head.
Other than lightening the head of the bird in the first picture and some minor cropping performed in Nikon NX Studio, no manipulation was performed on these images.
