I have been watching a hawk nest with new born chicks. This was a windy cloudy bad light day with little action. I had been watching the nest for two hours with no movement in the nest and not a hawk in sight.
I was about to pack up for the day when this beautiful Blue Heron glided into a tree right below the hawks nest. I was focusing on getting images of the heron when out of nowhere appeared mama hawk. She took exception to the heron so close to the nest. The chase was on… the heron was screaming in terror as it fled the scene.
I was shooting a Canon R5 with a 100 to 500mm zoom along with a 1.4 teleconverter for 700mm. I was shooting manual at 1/3200 sec shutter, F10, 3200 ISO.
Fantastic story and sequence of photos!!
