My family spent Easter afternoon visiting Tiger World in Rockwell, NC (just outside of Charlotte). This is a private 501c-3 organization that rescues, cares for, and houses exotic animals that have been taken out of private residences. Although it's named Tiger World, it's home to many other types of exotic animals. The organization does everything they can to provide proper habitats for these animals but, like so many other small nonprofits, they often have to make do with less than adequate funding.
Our visit sparked several emotions for us... Happiness that these animals were rescued from deplorable conditions and given proper care; frustration over the fact that the rescue center struggles to keep up with everyday expenses; and sadness. To walk through and look into these eyes, and to be able to actually see the sadness because they're trapped in these cages. I tried to shoot happy photos that showed several animals close up, living their normal life. However, all of my photos seemed to be focused on the sad faces.
As always, any cc is greatly appreciated. I'd really like to evoke a strong emotional reaction with these photos.... What would you do to make these photos more powerful?
