This is another shoot I've done with a friend and I was wondering if I could get some feedback/CC. This is all natural light and the windows were like a bottom half of an octagon. So I think I was getting a nicely lit subject (imo). I also had her legs up so that it fills the empty space on the left. Was it a smart move? Thank you!
Tomonori,
I noticed that you hadn't received any cc yet so I thought I'd make a comment.
First. Very nice image of a beautiful young lady. I think that you did a nice job with the space that you had. The photo has a nice feel to it. Using her legs to block the background works well.
There are two things that I'd comment on. 1. the bright red cushion behind her back is a bit distracting; possibly tone down the red a bit. More like the red on the cushion by her head?? 2. I do like the pose but not seeing her hands at all is a bit of a disconnect for me.
I hope you find this helpful.
Respectfully.
John
Hey, just realized that I got these comments. Thank you for your feedback! This was my first photo going strictly into natural light portraiture and the feedbacks are what I look at to improve my photography. I agree the red pillow is distracting now that you mentioned it. For her hands I didn't know where to have her put it. I wanted to go for a comfortable atmosphere but also have her be in a comfortable position. Thank you, it was very helpful!
Really need to work on her lips and nose. Nose looks like you've got a lot of repeating clone stamp going on causing line patterns to form. Lips have all sorts of weird lines and discoloration going on, maybe even you warped the right side of her lips (model's left side).
Given how coarse her hair is you could easily clean up the strays on the top left (model's top right) and fill in some of that part line too.
I agree that desaturating the red pillow by her legs would help the focus, maybe darken her shirt on her arm as well.
I will say great job on the eyes and brows though! They look terrific to me.
Hey, thank you for your feedback! I didn't use any cloning in this image but I could see where you're coming at with the lines on her nose. I think that was just a physical feature that she had but I guess I could have touched up a little bit to make it less significant. I like I said above this was my first photoshoot going into natural light. At this point I wasn't really paying attention to her lips or hair, hence why they look a little under processed. But my recent work I've been keeping an eye out for this small things, because it can make a difference. Thank you again for your feedback, it really helps!
