This is my first post here. Any insight is welcome!
Please keep in mind that this is a friend of mine, not a model, and we were outdoors with only natural light.
If there are any pieces of gear that you would recommend to make this shot better, please let me know.

I feel like you definitely have the right gear for portraits. I love the 1.4 lens. I think the composition is lacking in this shot though... the random patches of sun plus the table in the lower righthand corner are distracting. The hair is great, but the facial expression is confusing.
Thanks for your input! It was more of candid than anything else, but I love her expression. This is a friend of mine that was moving out of state and we were just spending time together. She's trying not to smile, and I thought the look captured her personality. I have others with her smiling like a normal person, and I can upload one here later tonight. This was just my favorite from the day.
