Recent Photoshoot, Constructive Criticism Welcome

I recently had the opportunity to work with Sunray Suzie in a fashion inspired photoshoot. We spent a lot of time scouting unique locations in Calgary prior to our shoot day. It was important to find places where very few or no one had shot before. We found this alley in the Kensington area with some amazing graffiti art and a very grungy staircase. We shot the second image in the "east village". We found a unique storage unit that doubles as a modern art sculpture near the river front.

For both shots we used a 20" beauty dish with diffusion on a strobe for the key light, and the ambient daylight for fill. Minor skin retouching was needed, and I used a gradient map to add some color to the shadows, mid tones and highlights. Sunray Suzie did her own hair and makeup. We agreed that the makeup, and hair would be simple. Many of the clothes used in this shoot were designed and made by Sunray Suzie.

I've posted the two described images below and would appreciate constructive feedback.

Thank you!

Sean

Hello Sean,

The only two suggestions that I really have for the first image is not cropping off the edge of the knee, and it might be a nice compositional detail to have the handrail planted in the upper corner of the frame. Nothing major by any means.

With the second image I would straighten out the seam in the wall that is on the left side of the frame. It is a total minor thing again but I think that details like that are additive to the composition.

I like what you did with the post production. Great job.

Thanks for the feedback Jayesunn! I agree, had I taken another second to backup a little, I could have avoided cropping the knee. It was a tight space, but I probably could have made it happen. I see what you are saying about the second image, a slight adjustment to the crop should fix the seem. Those little things can take an image from good to great. I appreciate your feedback! Thank you so much!

Anytime! Thanks for posting the images.
