Black and White in Black & White

Hello, all. This is a concept shot I did recently. The idea was to convey energy and emotion, like love, lust, sex, and sensuality through a black and white, yin and yang, him and her, two are one kind of image. What do you think? Any feedback is welcome. Thanks in advance!

Hey Daniel,
I'm pretty late getting here...
Love the image and I hope you have printed it as it deserves to be printed, and large.

When I first viewed the image my eye was fighting to go between the dark nails, then the light portion of the lower body. Then it went to the white nails. So I sat back, closed my eyes for about 30 seconds and opened them. My eyes went straight to the black nails and then to the light portion of the lower body.

Now; there isn't a thing wrong with that. I think eventually (split seconds) the eye draws down to the white nails. One of the things we forget (all of us) is that when we are centering an object is that our eyes actually go to a little higher point than what center actually is. So when we mount a picture, we shouldn't be mounting it dead center. There is a formula for being able to mount it where the visual center is.

I think what is happening here is the point where our visual center is comes in right about where the light part of the body is. The dark fingernails are at least what are catching my eye, but then the visual center where the light body is will immediately catch my eye. Or; simply it is the lightest part of the print next to the dark nails.

Now: that isn't necessarily criticism. I absolutely love this image. When you look at the image on your screen, close your eyes for about 30 seconds and when you open them, see where your eye goes. Again, not a bad thing because the image is powerful enough that the viewer is going to catch the whole image. Just something to think about when you are shooting. Can the hands go higher? Does something need to go lower? to the left? to the right?

Again, hope you print this. It deserves to be on someone's wall.
