Surfing in Nauru, Central Pacific

Hey All, I just wanted to post some photographs I shot recently whilst in Nauru in the Central Pacific of some surfers. The afternoon light seemed just right and I managed to get these images with a rather slow 75-300mm F4.8 - 6.7 Olympus lens at around 220mm and still freeze motion. Although they are not the sharpest images! I can't wait to get my new 50-200mm F2.8-3.5 SWD and improve on these.

why don't u get a water case a wide lense and get close?

Some people aren't rich, that's why ;)

I have bad shoulders mate after 16 years in the army my body just isn't up to it anymore, so that is why I get what I can with a telephoto..;-)

Hey Laith!
Some of these images are really cool, especially the last one and the second from the top. The top one looks a bit crowded with the other surfers, and the others just aren't right at the perfect moment. Hope this helps. Would you mind checking out my post in this group to give me feedback in return? Thanks

Thanks for the feedback mate, much appreciated.

Good stuff Laith! I would definitely like to see the subject pulled in a little tighter if it were possible. I know you can only do so much from a distance. I also read what you said about the physical limitations from your time in the military.

Depending on the resolution you're shooting, you might be able to crop in a little as long as your exposure is razor sharp. Maybe try shooting in Shutter Priority (set very fast) so you can freeze the scene really crisply and then crop it in maybe 20% or so.

#4 is my fave. The surfer's stance is aggressive and good (even though it kinda looks like his shorts fell down) Haha

Doug thanks mate, much appreciated
