Hello everybody!
This is my first post here in this Group and I would like to hear your thoughts on this Image. I've shot it for a friend of mine and it was the first time doing automotive! (Normally I do a lot of landscape, astro and macros). What I'm really interested in, is how you light your shots?! I used a flashlight and a Piece of styrofoam to bounce the light back and to get a sort of "softer" light..
First off, you did an amazing job combining your regular style with a new subject. Those stars are simply awe inspiring! (is that water spots on the hood or a reflection of the stars?)
As for lighting, some people use LED lights (even cell phone lights), LED wands (Wescot Ice Light), or strobes. Personally I have experience with all of those and my preferred method is using an LED wand inside a 24x36 softbox to diffuse the light (like you did with the foam board. very creative!)
Do you have any more shots of the car? would love to see them
Hey Dylon!
Thank you for your Kind words! Yes These spots should be a reflection of the stars! Ok, yes, I already saw some photographers do their lighting with These LED wands but that's a nice idea you have! I already thought of using some sort of softbox.
No, unfortunatelly I only have that one, but I'm planning on doing some similar shots with other cars, like star trails in the Background...
